An elusive member of the New People’s Army, who is facing multiple criminal charges, was apprehended during a joint law enforcement operation April 15 in Sitio Anatuling, Brgy. Budlasan, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.
Nabbed was Jerry Montefalcon, alias Bulhot, 49, a member of the Central Negros 1 under the supervision of the Komiteng Rehiyonal Negros/Cebu/Bohol/Siquijor.
In a statement, the Army’s 62nd Infantry Battalion said that Montefalcon has pending arrest warrants for murder, with no bail recommended, as well as for illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
Lt. Col. William Pesase, 62IB commanding officer, also said that Montefalcon was involved in numerous killings of government militiamen and civilians in Moises Padilla and La Castellana, Negros Occidental, as well as in the cities of Canlaon and Guihulngan, in Negros Oriental.
Pesase said that the 62IB will not stop hunting all the NPA remnants involved in the killings of innocent and unarmed civilians in central Negros./GB
