The Sangguniang Panlungsod has requested the Department of Public Works and Highways Bacolod District Office as well as the City Engineer’s Office to install additional streetlights, road markings, and early warning devices along Araneta Avenue to prevent accidents.

“Araneta Avenue is a vital road which connects barangays Tangub, Pahanocoy, and Sum-ag, and Bacolod and Bago City in Negros Occidental. The area is densely populated, which requires proper road markings, streetlights, and other early warning devices (EWDs),” Councilor Claudio Jesus “Kalaw” Puentevella said in his resolution approved by the SP Sept. 11.

Puentevella said several fatal road accidents had occurred in this highway, involving pedestrians and motorists, mainly due to inadequate street lights and EWDs, hence the request. | CGC
