More smuggled cigarettes seized

An estimated P75,000 worth of suspected smuggled cigarettes were  seized by the police on Sunday, Oct. 5, along the national highway of  Barangay Baliwagan in  San Enrique, Negros Occidental.

The confiscation came a day after the Regional Maritime Unit- Negros Island Region and local police units seized more than P11 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in Barangay Talaban, Himamaylan City.

Authorities arrested alias “Roger”, 56, who was found possessing smuggled cigarettes being loaded into a Honda TMX tricycle.

The suspect, who is detained at the San Enrique Municipal  Police Station custodial facility, is facing charges for violation of  Section 1401 of Republic Act 10863 (unlawful importation) and Section 6 of Republic Act 10643 or the Graphic Health Warnings on Tobacco Products Act of 2014. | GB
