More NegOcc bets file COCs

More incumbent officials in Negros Occidental and a congressional aspirant filed their Certificates of Candidacy on Oct. 2 and 3.

Vice Mayor Renato “JR” Malabor Jr. yesterday filed his CoC for the mayoralty post of Isabela, with former town councilor Raffy Uy as his running mate. The two are affiliated with the United Negros Alliance.

Malabor is challenging incumbent Mayor Irene Montilla of Love Negros.

UNegA La Carlota City Mayor Rex Jalandoon and his entire slate, including Vice Mayor David Baga, also filed their CoCs yesterday.

Incumbents Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. of UNegA, and Murcia’s Gerry Rojas also led their respective teams in filing their CoCs on Oct. 2.

Also on Saturday, Anthony “Macoy” Javelosa, former barangay chairman of Aguisan in Himamaylan City, filed his COC at the provincial COMELEC, which is temporarily holding office at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City.

Javelosa is running as an independent candidate and will challenge reelectionist Rep. Maria Lourdes Arroyo, who filed her CoC on Oct. 1.

Reelectionist Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez of the 3rd District is slated to file his CoC today and 2nd District congressional candidate Alfredo “Tirdie” Marañon III on Oct. 6.
