Police anti-drug teams seized more than P200,000 worth of illegal drugs in highly-urbanized Bacolod City and two component cities in Negros Occidental on Oct. 17 and 18.
Operatives of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Police Station 10 and City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested suspect Jose Yulo at Purok Chereza 2, Barangay 27 on Friday.
The apprehension of Yulo, a carpenter, yielded 25 grams of suspected shabu valued at P170,000.
A day earlier, CDEU operatives recovered an estimated one kilogram of suspected shabu worth P6.8 million from a suspect identified as Darrel Demafilez, alias “Mar- Mar”, during a buy-bust operation in Barangay 12.
In a statement, PBrig. Jack Wanky, police regional director of Western Visayas, lauded the BCPO for the series of successful anti-drug operations, which prevented the further proliferation of illegal drugs in the ongoing MassKara Festival.
Two drug suspects were also arrested by the police in the cities of Sagay and Victorias, which led to the confiscation of 5.5 grams of suspected shabu valued at P37,400.
“May these arrests serve as a warning to those still engaging in illegal drug activity to cease,” Wanky said. | GB
