President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is expected to lead the turnover of the initial 288 Bacolod Yuhum housing units at Arao Residences in Barangay Vista Alegre on Dec. 20, the city Public Information Office said this morning, Nov. 13.

The buyer-beneficiaries include homeless families earning a minimum monthly wage of P10,000 and qualified to avail of the Pag-IBIG long-term housing loan. They are set to benefit from the government subsidy under the Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH).

The 4PH is a flagship program of the Marcos administration that targets the construction of six million housing units by 2028, or one million units per year, to address the country’s housing backlog.

Bacolod City is one of the first local government units in the country that entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), the 4PH program lead agency, with the groundbreaking ceremony for the Asenso Yuhum Village held in September last year, attended by DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino Acuzar.

Acuzar was in Bacolod Nov. 10 to inspect the ongoing construction at Vista Alegre and said the turnover of the housing units next month will “serve as our President’s Christmas gifts to the beneficiaries.”

The city said the beneficiaries will be paying reduced monthly amortization of P2,300 over a period of 30 years. Each unit, at 24 square meters, costs more than a million pesos, at P50,000 per sqm., it added.

The city said the Arao Residences will have about 20 mid-rise condominium buildings of four to five storeys each.

Acuzar and Mayor Alfredo Benitez, along with other housing and city officials, were elated by the progress of the project in Barangay Vista Alegre. The first building of Bacolod’s 4PH project is already in the final stages of construction, the DHSUD said.

The scheduled delivery of the 288 housing units to the beneficiaries next month is the first ever under the flagship program, Acuzar said in a statement, as he thanked the mayor for his all-out support to the 4PH.

The city said the Arao Residences will have wide open spaces, a park with a large swimming pool, a clubhouse/multi-purpose hall, a basketball court, commercial spaces, and parking lots.
