President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is aiming to provide people in the provinces with world class healthcare through his Legacy Hospitals Project, Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said June 7 during the groundbreaking for the 20-storey Bicol Regional Hospital and Medical Center Legacy Building in Legazpi City.

Bicol lawmakers led by Zaldy Co, who chairs the House Committee Appropriations, Reps. Jil Bongalon of Ako Bicol Partylist and Rodge Gutierrez of 1-Rider Partylist, and other Bicol officials attended the event.

“Para sa regional specialty hospitals, pangarap ng ating Pangulo na maramdaman din ng mga taga-probinsya ang pag-aalaga sa mga pasyente mula sa mga world-class na ospital tulad nang naitayo ng kanyang ama sa Metro Manila,” Romualdez said.

Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, assisted by Davao del Norte 2nd District Rep. Alan Dujali, acting governor De Carlo Uy, and Tagum City Mayor Rey Uy, leads the distribution of assistance, under the Start-up, Investment, Business Opportunity, and Livelihood program, to 3,000 beneficiaries at the Tagum City Cultural and Trade Center June 7.

He said that these hospitals include the Philippine Heart Center, Lung Center, and Kidney Center, all located in Quezon City.

The House leader said that in addition to existing specialty hospitals, the Marcos administration has started building the Philippine Cancer Center, also in Quezon City.

Romualdez said in a press release from his office that the groundbreaking for the Bicol Regional Hospital Legacy Building is the start of the establishment of a specialty center in Albay, adding that this facility was funded through the effort of Co of Ako Bicol Party-list.

He said that aside from Legacy Hospitals, the President’s legacy programs include Legacy Housing Projects and Legacy Food Security.

Romualdez pointed out that the administration is targeting to build one million dwelling units for the poor every year up to 2028 to fill the housing backlog of 6.5 million. ||
