A man from Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental was shot to death by an estimated five assailants in Sitio Natuling, Barangay Budlasan, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental on Wednesday, Feb. 11.
Initial police investigation showed the victim, a 38-year-old laborer and a resident of Sitio Tiguisan, Barangay Montilla, was on his way home with his wife and son when a group of armed men approached them.
Without any provocation, they shot the victim, who initially managed to run and jump into a river located on the boundary of Canlaon City and La Castellana in Negros Occidental.
The victim was eventually hit as the assailants repeatedly fired at him, according to the police.
With the help of disaster personnel of Moises Padilla and La Castellana, the victim’s body, with a gunshot injury in the head, was found at the riverbank the following day.
Police investigators of La Castellana are coordinating with the Canlaon City Police Station to identify the perpetrators. | GB
