A man and his nephew drowned at Nabinay River in Barangay Mabini, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Initial police investigation showed that alias “Jesus,” 42, and his two nephews were fishing at the river when the nine-year-old boy was carried by the strong current.
“Jesus” tried to rescue his nephew, but also got swept down the river.
The other boy called for help.
The bodies of the two victims were recovered almost three hours after they were reported missing.
Both were declared dead on arrival at the Cadiz District Hospital, according to the police. | GB
