A former member of the New People’s Army (NPA) linked to the ambush of policemen in Binalbagan, Negros Occidental three years ago has been arrested in Barangay Talaban of the neighboring Himamaylan City recently.
The suspect was identified by the police as alias “Jim”, a resident of Barangay Bi-ao, Binalbagan.
Used to be under the Sentro De Grabidad Platoon of Central Negros 2, he is facing charges for frustrated murder with a bail bond of P200,000 as recommended by the Regional Trial Court Branch 55 in Himamaylan City.
The NPA had claimed responsibility for the ambush of police forces on Feb. 21, 2022 along the highway of Sitio Candida in Barangay Bi-ao.
Two of the 10 policemen who responded to an incident, where a man was found dead, were wounded in the attack. | GB
