A farm laborer reportedly killed himself after hacking his live-in partner and their four minor children in Barangay Tapi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental Wednesday night.
The 36-year-old suspect, whose identity is being withheld by the police, succumbed to stab injuries in the chest.
His body was found by responding village watchmen.
Initial police investigation showed that the suspect, who was reported to have been suffering from a nervous breakdown, attacked his family members who were preparing to eat dinner.
They suffered multiple injuries, according to the police.
The 36-year-old wife and her two-year-old child are now being treated at a hospital in Kabankalan City.
The two other children, aged 6 and 11, are now confined at a hospital in Bacolod City.
The one-year-child, who sustained a minor injury, was already released from the hospital.
The suspect was declared dead on arrival at a hospital in Kabankalan City, the police said. | GB
