A woman and her daughter were killed while three others were injured after they were shot by an unidentified assailant at home in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, April 22.
Initial police investigation showed that the man armed with M16 assault rifle just barged into their house in Purok Skid 8, Barangay Nabulao.
Alias Jona, 27, and her three-year-old daughter were both killed while alias Benny, 62; alias Remrem, 46; and a nine-year-old child suffered gunshot injuries in various parts of the body, according to the Sipalay City police.
Investigators recovered from the scene of the incident 36 fired cartridges of M16 assault rifle.
Police investigation further showed that two suspects were involved in the commission of the crime.
The gunman was reported to have fled on board a motorcycle.
Meanwhile, the Armando Sumayang Jr. Command-New People’s Army in southern Negros issued a statement claiming responsibility for the killing of a certain Gamay Lendio in Sitio Abo, Barangay Manlocahoc in the same city also on April 22. | GB
