A district office of the Land Transportation Office will soon rise in the town of Ilog in Negros Occidental, after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Republic Act 12167 on its establishment.
The secretary of the Department of Transportation shall immediately include in the DOTr’s program the operationalization of the LTO District Office in the municipality of Ilog in the 6th District of Negros Occidental, as per RA 12167, signed by Marcos April 11 and made public on April 25.
Funding for the office’s establishment shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act, it added.
The district office in Ilog is among the 20 legislative measures signed by Marcos in a bid to expand and improve the LTO operations.
LTO chief, Atty. Vigor Mendoza II, said April 28 that the creation of new district offices “will be a big boost to the efforts of the Marcos administration to lessen the time, effort, and money (spent by) clients for any of their transactions with the agency.”
From faster licensing processes to enhanced traffic law enforcement, the new district offices are expected to serve as hubs of both convenience and accountability, the LTO in Western Visayas also said in a recent statement.
“For residents of Negros Occidental, it means fewer hours on the road for paperwork—and more peace of mind knowing that road safety is being taken seriously,” it added.
Motorists can expect shorter queues, faster transactions, and easier access to vehicle registration, licensing, and other services previously concentrated in provincial centers, the LTO said.
“By establishing district offices in key locations, we reduce travel time for those needing our services and strengthen our commitment to road discipline and public safety,” LTO6 director, Atty. Gaudioso Geduspan II, added. | CGC
