Focused transport safety and enforcement operations continue across the Negros Island Region, including in Bacolod City, amid the holiday exodus, the Land Transportation Office-NIR said Dec. 28.
The 10 buses inspected at the Bacolod South Ceres Terminal all passed the assessment, with no violations or failures recorded.
“Traffic conditions remained light and manageable, with passenger volume ranging from light to moderate,” the LTO-NIR said in a statement, adding that no overcrowding, long queues, or untoward incidents were noted at the bus terminal during the operation.

The inspections, which aim to ensure road safety and commuter protection, involved private and public utility vehicles, with focus on the “No Registration, No Travel” policy and anti-colorum operations.
In Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, LTO personnel conducted road safety and traffic enforcement operation at the bus stop, with 39 motor vehicles inspected, including 11 buses, four SUVs, 13 motorcycles, four private cars, five utility vehicles, and two trucks.
The LTO E.B. Magalona District Office also recently deployed personnel along Sta. Monica Road in Barangay Tabigue, and inspected 10 vehicles.
At the Cadiz City bus and TODA terminals, 13 vehicles were inspected, including four buses and nine for-hire tricycles. One vehicle was found not complying with regulatory requirements, the LTO said.
In Bayawan City, Negros Oriental, five motorcycles, two utility vehicles, and one truck passed the inspection, and another five during the roadside inspections along the Bais national highway.
“LTO-NIR continues to uphold road safety standards and assures the public of its sustained efforts to maintain orderly, safe, and reliable transportation services across the region,” its OIC regional director, Jeck Conlu, said as he stressed the importance of “efficient transportation and the enforcement of all traffic regulations to promote safer and more convenient travel for all.” | CGC
