The Land Transportation Office-Negros Island Region (LTO-NIR) issued Oct. 12 a show-cause order against a pickup driver, who plowed into at least eight parked and moving vehicles along the Bacolod Negros Occidental Economic Highway (BNOCEH) in Brgy. Sum-ag Oct 11.
The order, served through the agency’s Intelligence and Investigation Unit, requires the driver, 18, to submit a formal written explanation on why administrative sanctions, including potential driver’s license suspension or revocation, should not be imposed.
“The LTO-NIR is committed to swift action and strict enforcement of traffic safety laws to maintain order and public safety across our roadways,” the agency said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Bacolod City Police Office-Traffic Enforcement Unit’s initial investigation revealed that the driver of the black Toyota Hilux allegedly fell asleep and lost control of the car, hitting a moving tricycle before crashing into several parked motorcycles, a videoke establishment, and a roadside home in Barangay Sum-ag.
The crash injured the 49-year-old tricycle driver, the police said. | TMD
