The Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) of Binalbagan in Negros Occidental has recommended the declaration of a state of calamity in the municipality.
LDRRMO head Jernie Ronding said on Monday (July 21) the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council chaired by Mayor Emmanuel Aranda is expected to deliberate on their recommendation this week.
A total of 13 of the town’s 16 barangays experienced flooding for several days, affecting 10,413 families.
Damage to fisheries sector was reported at P1.14 million; high value crops, P1.2 million; and livestock, P106,000.
In Kabankalan City, Mayor Benjie Miranda said they are still collating data from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Agriculture Office, and City Social Welfare and Development Office to serve as basis in the declaration of a state of calamity.
Sixteen barangays of Kabankalan City were flooded, affecting 1,484 families composed of 4,361 persons.
Meanwhile, initial damage to infrastructure in Moises Padilla was estimated at P28.885 million while damage to crops and livestock, P4.389 million, based on the report of LDRRMO head Reynald Horegue. | GB
