The Department of Education in San Carlos City received 90 fifty-five-inch LED television sets donated by the local government in time for the Oct. 5 opening of the school year.
The almost P5-million donation package included a Comcolor copyiing machine and an identification card maker.
San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo said the TV sets, along with other equipment given by the city government, are in support to the blended learning approach implemented by the DepEd due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has prevented the holding of traditional face-to-face classes.
The blended learning combines the use of online as well as radio and TV-transmitted lesson and printed modules.
Supt. Anthony Liobet of the Division of San Carlos City received the donation from Mayor Gustilo in turnover rites held at the DepEd Superintendent’s Hall.
The copyining machine Liobet said, will be used to print learning modules and the TV sets, paired with the upcoming portable media library, will be for the monitoring of various learning episodes aired for the students.
Liobet also acknowledged the provision by the LGU of the P500-load allowance for the teachers to allow them to communicate with parents for important notices and reply to queries,
The DeoEd official also thanked the city government for its allocation of P4.5-imillom for the purchase of three printers for each of the 59 elementary and five high schools under the division.
To date, a total of P27 million has been allocated to DepEd from the Special Education Fund for the Information and Communication Technology, office and other property equipment in support of the basic education continuity plan for the different learning delivery modalities implemented in every schools in the city.
