Leyte aid caravan rolls out P14.1-M in benefits for 3,000 more residents

The fourth day in the continuing aid caravan, spearheaded by the Office of Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, saw the roll out of P14.1 million worth of benefits to qualified residents of a barangay in Tacloban City and the municipality of Sta. Fe in the province of Leyte.

In a payout held Friday morning in Brgy. 96 Calanipawan, Tacloban City, 1,000 qualified residents received P5,000 in cash, and P1,000 worth of rice under the Cash and Rice Distribution Program (CARD), or a total of P6 million aid package.

Some 2,000 residents of Sta. Fe also received a cash aid of P4,050 each for 10 days of work, totaling P8.1 million, under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the Department of Labor and Employment.

The office of Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, represented by social welfare officer II Rammilyn Majarilla and Speaker’s Office district coordinator Cyril Malinao, led the rollout of the Cash and Rice Distribution program to 1,000 beneficiaries in Barangay 96 Calanipawan, Tacloban City, Leyte recently.

“The House of Representatives remains committed to supporting the continuation of these laudable assistance programs to bring needed relief to our citizens in need, according to our President’s vision of a Bagong Pilipinas,” Romualdez said in a press release from his office.

The Speaker was represented in the TUPAD aid distribution by his district chief of staff, Atty. Mark Reyes, in coordination with Sta. Fe Mayor Amparo Monteza and DOLE North Leyte Field Office head, Engr. Emmanuel Dela Cruz.

Cyril Manilao, Speaker’s Office district coordinator, led the CARD benefit rollout in cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, represented by social welfare officer II Rammilyn Majarilla.

The Leyte aid caravan, which included the distribution of benefits under the CARD and TUPAD programs, kicked off July 9 at the People’s Center in Tacloban City and the town of Babatngon, followed by a CARD payout in the municipality of Tanauan the next day.

On Wednesday, the aid caravan rolled out benefit packages for qualified residents of Brgy. 94 Tigbao, Tacloban and in the municipality of Tolosa.

The aid caravan is slated to continue its delivery of aid packages to qualified residents of Leyte up to July 19. ||
