Typhoon “Odette” did not stop the grand opening of the McDonald’s Forbes Hill that opened its doors and countertops to Bacolodnons and visitors today, Dec. 16.
It is poised to offer one of the best dining experiences with state-of-the-art ordering queue, an interior of global standards, the country’s biggest “Bike and Dine” facility, and the first McCafe in the province.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Emergency Operations Center-Task Force executive director Em Ang led the ribbon-cutting ceremony, together with Rommel Ong, assistant vice president for Operations of McDonald’s-Golden Arches Development Corp.; and executive director Judy Gabriel and managing director Eugene Reducindo of Choice Gourmet Bouquet Inc. Megaworld Corp.
Central Negros Electric Cooperative officials Jojit Yap, Atty. Danny Pondevilla, and Joe Taniongon also attended the opening program.
“This is not just another McDonald’s because there is so much symbolism here,” Leonardia said in a press release from the city, as he explained that the northern part of Bacolod is reaching its full potential.
“This tells us that when it comes to development, we have already expanded to the maximum. Right now, we are reaching the peak of the north side of the city,” Leonardia said.
Another special landmark is the Welcome Marker reminiscent of the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign in the Entertainment Capital of the World.
“Whenever I see that marker, I always say to myself that Bacolod is just as fabulous as Las Vegas. My fearless forecast, now that McDonald’s is here, is that these two would be the city’s next icons, not only for locals but also for tourists,” Leonardia added. | NND
