Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said he will wait until the Certificates of Candidacies are filed, by those who are running for president and vice president, before discussing the possibility of endorsing a candidate.

He said the mayors, including the three, who joined the call for Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to run for president in next year’s elections, are free to express their support to whoever they want.

Lacson said “three are not that many”, adding that it is too early to make any announcement since nobody yet has filed his or her COC.

Together with Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, Lacson said, they will wait until the official candidates are announced before discussing the possibility of endorsing a common candidate for president.

The governor, who still belongs to the Nationalist People’s Coalition, said that the most ideal thing to do, as of this time, is to wait for the national party to make its official statement– MML
