Lacson strengthens regional ties between Negros Occ., Australia

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is visiting the Australia’s Northern Territory to further strengthen the strategic global linkages and open opportunities for Negrenses in those areas.

Lacson, who led the provincial government delegation in attending the graduation rites of Negrense scholars under the Negros Occidental Scholarship Program, engaged in a diplomatic meeting with Robyn Cahill, Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations; International Education, Migration and Population; Workforce Development; Advanced Manufacturing; Children and Families; Child Protection; and Prevention of Domestic Violence.

In their meeting, Lacson and Cahill discussed the strengthening of regional ties between Negros Occidental and the Northern Territory, especially in the areas of international education, skills development, trade, and cultural exchange as well as the possibility of the resumption of direct flights from Manila to Darwin.

The visit highlights the successful collaboration between Negros Occidental and the Northern Territory in education programs that are already transforming lives of the Negrense youth, according to a statement issued by the provincial government.

It added that the presence of Lacson at the graduation of Negrense scholars is a testament to the provincial government’s strong support for its students abroad and its vision of producing globally competitive and socially responsible Negrense professionals.

The governor was accompanied by Januario Rivas, who is the Philippine Honorary Consul General to the Northern Territory, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II, Negros Occidental Scholarship Program head Karen Dinsay, and Executive Assistant to the Governor Charina Magallanes-Tan. ||
