Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson attributed the slight increase in COVID-19 active cases in Negros Occidental to the highly-infectious Delta variant.
Lacson noted what he described as a “roller-coaster ride” on the number of COVID cases, which rose to 923 as of Sept. 2, from 640 in the past weeks.
“But let us not so much be concerned what kind of variant there is, we should be concerned that the virus is still here, in the country and the whole world,” he said.
The Department of Health said it detected 15 cases of the Delta variant in Negros Occidental, including 10 in Bacolod City, with one fatality, while majority had already recovered.
Self-discipline remains as the key to combat the spread of the virus, Lacson said. — GB
