Policemen arrested two suspects for illegal possession of firearms while two others managed to escape in La Castellana and La Carlota City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday.

Three persons, who were riding a motorcycle, were flagged down by Philippine Army soldiers and policemen at Purok 3 in Barangay Cabacungan, La Castellana.

Instead, the three suspects ignored them and attempted to escape on board a black 125 Rusi motorcycle without a plate number.

A brief chase ensued, which led to the arrest of one of the three suspects, while his two companions identified only with their aliases “Budot” and “Weng Weng” managed to escape.

A caliber .45 pistol with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition was recovered from the arrested 27- year-old laborer, whose identity is being withheld by the police.

The La Castellana police also took into its custody the 125 Rusi motorcycle used by the suspects.

Meanwhile, the implementation of a search warrant also led to the confiscation of a .38 caliber revolver with two rounds of ammunition and one gram of suspected shabu from an arrested 41-year-old laborer in Sitio Bugkos, Barangay La Granja, La Carlota City.

A drug suspect was also arrested by the police during a buy-bust operation at Rizal Street in Barangay 3, San Carlos City.

The apprehension of the 55-year-old suspect also yielded about 5.81 grams of suspected shabu, with a market value of P39,508 and P500 in marked money. | GB
