Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island continues to exhibit unrest as indicated by another occurrence of ash emission on Monday, Feb. 16.

The event generated grayish plumes that rose 150 meters above the summit crater, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) report said.

The ash emission lasted for three minutes, Phivolcs said, adding that the volcano also logged six volcanic quakes.

However, no ash fall was reported from communities surrounding the volcano, according to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Last Friday, a total of 31 barangays in the cities of Bago and La Carlota as well as in La Castellana and Pontevedra were blanketed by ash fall, following the ash emission of Kanlaon Volcano.

Alert Level 2 prevails over Kanlaon Volcano, prompting prohibitions within the four-kilometer permanent danger zone. | GB
