The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported the occurrence of two more ash emission events at Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island on Sunday.
The first ash emission took place at 7:51 a.m. and followed by another event at 9:45 a.m.
Since Jan. 3, Phivolcs has logged eight ash emissions at Kanlaon Volcano, which indicates a possible sign that magma is rising.
The Jan. 9 ash emission lasted for 15 minutes
On Jan. 10, Phivolcs also recorded five volcanic quakes at the volcano.
Alert Level 2 is in effect over Kanlaon Volcano and entry into the four-kilometer permanent danger zone remains strictly prohibited. | GB
