The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) is finalizing the Kanlaon Recovery and Rehabilitation Development Plan (KRRDP) to benefit local government units (LGUs) impacted by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon.
Adrian Sedillo, provincial head of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), told the Philippine News Agency Jan. 8 that OCD administrator Harold Cabreros disclosed this during a meeting with Capitol officials in Dumaguete City Wednesday.
The plan will be presented today, Jan. 9, in Bacolod City.

“Cabreros informed the provincial officials about the existing line funding from the General Appropriations Act for this rehabilitation plan, although he did not provide details on the allocation for the LGUs,” Sedillo said.
Some of the LGUs affected by Mt. Kanlaon’s unrest are La Carlota City and La Castellana in Negros Occidental, and Canlaon City in Negros Oriental.
Sedillo said that while the KRRDP is focused on events arising from the volcano’s recent eruptions, “the provincial officials asked Cabreros if Canlaon City may be accommodated in terms of rehabilitation and recovery from Typhoon Tino’s devastation.”
That mountain city experienced unprecedented massive flooding that left over 20 people dead as the typhoon lashed out across the Visayas in November.
The official from the OCD reacted favorably and will take into account the suggestion to rehabilitate the infrastructure damaged in Canlaon City due to “Tino” for inclusion in the KRRDP, Sedillo said. ||
