To represent his father, former Negros Occidental congressman Alfredo Benitez, who is now under mandatory quarantine for travelling abroad, Javier Lopez Benitez joined the people of Barangay Sum-ag in their fiesta celebration yesterday.
Javi Benitez was joined by former Provincial Board Member Patrick Lacson, who said that they were invited by the Villarosa family for the inauguration of the Sanguniang Kabataan Building in the barangay. The SK in Sum-ag is headed by Jason Villarosa.
The young Benitez, who starred in several projects in the entertainment industry, attended the concelebrated mass at San Juan Nepomuceno Church, led the cutting of ribbons in the new SK Building, and played a game of chess with a barangay official in Sum-ag.
While there is no official pronouncement yet on the political plans of Albee Benitez, Lacson, who works as his personal assistant, said the former congressman tries to accommodate every invitation sent to him by community leaders.
“He is just visiting and making friends with the different communities in Bacolod City,” Lacson said.
Benitez transferred his voter’s registration to Bacolod last month as several groups urged him to run for city mayor in the 2022 elections.
Lacson said they are simply going around the city making acquaintance with the barangay and purok officials. – MML
