Javi extends financial aid to kin of Silaynon victims

The Negros Occidental Third District congressional office has extended P530,296 in financial assistance to the families of the fatalities in the recent shooting incident and vehicular accident in Silay City.

Two persons were killed in the Election Day shooting in Barangay Mambulac while seven died during a vehicular accident in Barangay Guimbalaon on June 27.

In a statement, Rep. Javier Miguel Benitez said they gave P234,503.65 to the kin of the shooting victims.

An amount of P295,792.50 was given to the families of victims of the road accident.

“We extend our sincerest condolences to the families of those we lost in these tragic events, and we pray for the swift recovery of all survivors,” the neophyte lawmaker said.

Mayor Joedith Gallego has formed a fact-finding committee to establish the facts behind the vehicular accident, which led to the loss of lives and injuries of 24 persons, riding a mini dump truck owned by the city government on their way home from a tree-planting activity. | GB
