Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez has ended speculations that he will run for the top Capitol post by endorsing the reelection bid of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson in the 2025 mid-term elections Wednesday night.

“I stand for a united Negros Occidental and in full support of its current machinery that drives it to pioneer sustainable innovations and developments for all Negrosanons. With this, I am endorsing the Honorable Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson to be re-elected as governor in the 2025 mid-term elections,” Benitez said in a Facebook post.

The neophyte mayor added that the “relentless support” of Lacson to Victorias City, and to the other cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental is “a testament to his unparalleled dedication and compassion for all Negrosanons.”

Lacson announced on Tuesday that he is seeking a reelection in 2025 to complete a nine-year term as governor.

Benitez, who heads the Negros Occidental Association of Chief Executives, further said that Lacson has been ever-present and supportive of Negros ACE’s initiatives.

He added that Lacson’s “resounding leadership empowered us to forge a formidable alliance between us, ACE members, in sharing our best practices, offering assistance, and solidifying the camaraderie among the different localities in the province.”

“Undeniably, Gov. Bong has already led numerous milestones but there is still a lot more he can do for the province of Negros Occidental,” Benitez said. | GB
