Injured soldier gets medal for bravery

An enlisted personnel of the 62nd Infantry Battalion, who was injured during a recent encounter with New People’s Army rebels in Sitio Cunalom, Brgy. Buenavista, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, was awarded a medal for gallantry on June 17.

          Col. Inocencio Pasaporte, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, conferred on PFC Kiel Charles Pama a Wounded Personnel Medal at the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City, where he is recuperating.

          The encounter also claimed the lives of an Army soldier and a suspected NPA member, and the recovery of a .45 caliber pistol and seven backpacks.

Pursuit operations led to the capture of two other suspected NPA members, and yielded two .45 caliber pistols, Maj. Cenon Pancito II, spokesperson of the 3rd Infantry Division, said. — GB
