An Indian national was shot by an unidentified gunman at Purok Crotons in Barangay Poblacion 2, Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday (June 17).
The 55-year-old victim, whose identity is being withheld by the police, sustained two gunshot wounds in the stomach and chest.
Initial investigation conducted by the Sagay City police showed the victim was about to leave the residence of his relative when the male assailant fired at him.
After his initial treatment at the Lopez District Foundation Hospital, the foreigner, who is a resident of Purok Kadalag-an in Barangay 13, Victorias City, was transferred to a private hospital in Bacolod City.
Policemen recovered two fired cartridges and a bullet shell at the scene of the incident.
The assailant was described by the police to be wearing a red jacket with a hood.
The motive of the shooting incident is still being established, the police said.
Meanwhile, a laborer identified as alias “Andrew”, was arrested for illegal possession of firearms in Barangay Efigenio Lizares, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday.
His apprehension yielded a caliber .22 Smith and Wesson revolver with two ammunition. | GB
