About 300 residents of Cauayan town, who were affected by floods Sept. 28, received relief goods and monetary assistance from members of the Padayona Inday Sara movement two days later.

The volunteers visited barangays Man-Uling and Poblacion to provide aid to affected residents, in an effort to alleviate some of their concerns and ensure that they had ample food and water while they were preoccupied with cleaning their muddied homes and washing their soiled clothes.

About 300 residents of Cauayan town, who were affected by floods Sept. 28, received relief goods and monetary assistance from members of the Padayona Inday Sara movement two days later.

Barangay Poblacion kagawad Leo Mamigo thanked the Padayona group for again heeding the call of affected residents. The group was also in Cauayan a few weeks earlier to participate in a medical mission.

“We are very thankful to the Alliance and Broadcasting Committee for again coming to our aid, particularly the flood victims,” Mamigo said in Ilonggo.

Barangay health worker Gina Dehillo expressed her appreciation for the group’s quick response. “We are grateful to the Alliance and Broadcasting Committee for coming to our barangay and helping out the people here. This sort of assistance is very welcome and appreciated,” Dehillo said in Ilonggo.

Spearheaded by ABC co-convenors, retired P/Col William Señoron and Prince Almer Buño, the Padayona Inday Sara group focuses on engaging sectoral groups through socio-civic endeavors to help improve the way of life of every citizen of Negros Occidental, which they only see happening if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte is able to pick up where President Rodrigo Duterte will leave off when he finishes his term next year.

ABC co-convenor Almer Buño said that the group’s activities, like providing timely assistance to those who most need it, is their way to express their wish for Mayor Sara to succeed the President.

“Every group has its own way of showing how much they want Mayor Sara to run. And doing these types of activities geared towards service is Padayona’s way to get that message across. We have more planned for Negros Occidental, and we continue to hope that Ma’am Sara will reconsider,” Buño said.

Mayor Sara filed her Certificate of Candidacy for re-election Oct. 2, but many are still hoping that she withdraws from the mayoral race and instead will declare her candidacy for president before the deadline of COC filing today, Oct. 8. – GB
