The Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office with the Mambuloc Clearing Team, started on Feb. 1 the massive excavation and dredging of the Mambulock Creek in Barangay 8.

The DRRMO-led team is using the newly-acquired Hidromek Amphibious Excavator.

Prior to the excavation, personnel of DRRMO, City Legal Office, City Engineer’s Office, Barangay 8, and Law Enforcement Unit (LEU) of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) cleared the area to allow the amphibious excavator to gain entry for the operation.

The city team included Executive Assistant and DRRMO Cluster head Jose Maria Vargas, City Legal Officer lawyer Reuben Sabig, CLO-Head for operations Dante Medecillo, Engineer Jun Brey, Barangay Captain Johanna Magallona and Kagawad Jojo Dewara, PCMS Alex Disomangcop, SSG Roldan Arroyo, SMG Kenneth Ronquillo, SMG Ian Federez, PEMS Karyl Mugemulta and PSMS Jet Pirote of the Law Enforcement Unit.

Irresponsible disposal, which has caused garbage accumulation, results in overflows in neighboring areas during days of heavy rains.

As we aim for the success of this operation, we are urging everyone’s cooperation that starts from proper disposal of garbage, Vargas said. –NND
