The Emergency Operations Center noted an average of two COVID related deaths each day in Bacolod City, or 32 mortalities in the first two weeks of June.

EOC records show the total death toll in Bacolod related to COVID has reached 288.

EOC executive director Em Ang said this is a high record and a matter of big concern since most of the hospitals in Bacolod are full and a big percentage of those who were admitted have other ailments, or persons with comorbidities.

The General Services Office was also alerted following reports of burials in public cemeteries. The EOC has monitored a burial done at night. Ang also said that because of the pandemic, some family members of dead persons do not report to their barangay the cause of death, so it is uncertain if it was COVID related or not.

The city is now strictly monitoring wakes, particularly in homes.

In a meeting of the City Inter-Agency Task Force Tuesday morning, the officials reiterated the guidelines on hospital-supervised home isolation for asymptomatic, mild, and moderate COVID cases. The HSHI aims to help decongest hospital beds, ensure professional medical care, and generate income opportunities for medical workers, Ang added.

EOC repeatedly reminds everyone to be doubly careful and follow the minimum health protocols since the latest number of COVID positive patients in Bacolod were all local cases.

The City recorded 60 new cases Monday night and all were local transmissions. Total active cases reached 1,946, as of June 15 –MML
