The National Inter-Agency Task Force has denied the request of the Bacolod City government for the Dec. 24-25 moratorium on flights from Manila.
This was disclosed by Councilor Israel Salanga, head of the City Action Team on Returning OFWs, who said that 30 ROFs arrived on Dec. 24 and another 30 on Christmas Day.
Salanga, in an interview on Friday night (Dec. 25) said the city government is awaiting the reply to its moratorium request for Dec. 31 – Jan. 1, that was sent to IATF two weeks ago.
The Action Team checked the ROFs’ swab test results which are required prior to their flight from Manila and were instructed to immediately undergo a 14-day home quarantine in keeping with health protocols, Salanga said.
As of Dec. 25, a total of 5,760 ROFs have arrived in Bacolod City since the government started repatriation of OFWs due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Were ready to accommodate the yearend returness if the IATF fails to act favorably on the city’s request,” he added. – YBMontecillo (City Action Team photos)
