A drug personality was shot dead by two motorcycle-riding suspects inside his residence at Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, Bacolod City at about 2:30 a.m. of Jan. 1, the police said.
Jomar Pahamutang, alias Ago, 27, succumbed to gunshot wounds in the chest and stomach, said Lt. Col. Ariel Pico, spokesperson of the Bacolod City Police. He was declared dead on arrival at the Riverside Medical Center.
The victim was a drug surrenderee, the police said.
Recovered from the scene of incident were six fired cartridges and a slug of 45 caliber pistol.
Capt. Leo Estopa, BCPO Station 2 commander, said that Pahamutang had just returned to Purok Sigay in November after staying in Victorias City for four months following a prior attempt on his life.
Meanwhile, a radio operator of the Binalbagan Police Station, identified as Edgar Atido, was shot dead by still unidentified gunman at about 7:14 p.m. of Dec. 31 in Sitio Siag, Brgy. Maytubig, Isabela, Negros Occidental.
The 52-year-old victim was a resident of Brgy. Tinongan, Isabela. He was declared dead on arrival at the Ignacio Arroyo Memorial District Hospital in Isabela, Capt. Joseph Partidas, Isabela police chief, said.
Recovered from the scene of incident were two fired cartridges of 45 caliber pistol.
Initial police investigations showed that Atido was on his way home on board a motorcycle when he was waylaid by the suspect.
The shooting incident was initially reported to the Isabela Police Station as a vehicular accident. — GB
