The Commission on Elections in Bacolod City will hold a series of satellite registration activities in malls and schools this month for the 2022 presidential and local polls.
Election officer, Atty. Kathrina Trinio-Caña said the Bacolod City Emergency Operations Center has approved the conduct of special registrations in malls and two schools.
On August 6 and 7, the Comelec registration team will be at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The team will also be at the Mansilingan Agro-Industrial High School on Aug. 13, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., although the list-up is exclusive for those who have pre-registered; Aug. 14, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at SM City Mall; and Aug. 20-21, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Robinsons Place Bacolod.
On August 27, another exclusive registration will be held at the University of St. La Salle, and Caña said this was set up by the school for its pre-registered students.
On August 28 and 30, the registration team will go back to SM City Mall and cater to registrants from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Caña said that during the satellite registration, Comelec will accommodate all types of transaction, like new registration, and activation or change of entry in the registration record.
For the registration in malls, the Comelec will do an early distribution of numbers at the entrance for 350 persons, who can be catered for that day. Those interested can get their reservation numbers early and return on the estimated time that they can be served.
“But those who miss their number will not be entertained and they will have to line up after the last number, to make it fair to those who were on standby and waited for their turn,” Caña said.
She added that they are negotiating for the holding of special registration activities in September, the last month of registering for next year’s elections.
There will be no special registrations in the barangays since the EOC is requiring that a barangay should be COVID-free for 14 days prior to the holding of the special registration there.
Aside from the special registrations, the Bacolod Comelec is also catering to 150 registrants every day at its office beside the BAYS Center.
The registration period is until September 30.
