A ranking leader of the House of Representatives lauded April 9 the recent OCTA Research survey showing that 31 percent of Filipinos support the administration of President Bongbong Marcos Jr., while only four percent are backing the opposition.

Senior deputy speaker and Pampanga Rep. Aurelio Gonzales said the gains of the Marcos administration in prioritizing the welfare of Filipinos can be gleaned in the support indicated in the OCTA Research survey, which also showed that only 20 percent of Filipinos support the Duterte family and their allies.

He said that the House of Representatives, under the leadership of Speaker Martin Romualdez, will continue to support the legislative agenda of Marcos and will continue to find ways to respond to the challenges of the chief executive of bringing government services closer to the people.

“I believe that this show of support for President Marcos Jr. will only encourage his administration and us here at the House to tirelessly work for the welfare of Filipinos and the nation,” Gonzales said in a press release.

OCTA Research’s Tugon ng Masa survey for the first quarter was conducted from Mar. 11 to 14, with 1,200 respondents nationwide, a margin of error of plus/minus three percent, and a 95 percent confidence level.

It showed that about 29 percent of the respondents are considered independents and have no support for the president and his administration, the Dutertes and the opposition, while the remaining 15 percent do not know who to support, or refused to answer.

The President and his administration enjoyed the highest support from Filipinos living in the National Capital Region at 43 percent, 32 percent in Balance Luzon, 38 percent in the Visayas, and 17 percent in Mindanao.

In terms of socio-economic class, Marcos and his administration gained the highest support in Class D at 32 percent, followed by Class E at 30 percent, and Class ABC at 27 percent.

The Chief Executive also got high support in the age group of 55-64 at 39 percent, and in the 45-54 category at 35 percent. ||
