Hinobaan village chief, tanods tagged to mauling incident

A barangay captain and four barangay tanods were tagged as suspects in a mauling incident on July 15 at Purok 2, Barangay Culipapa, Hinoba-an in Negros Occidental.

The victim is a 65-year-old resident of the village, according to police report.

Investigation of the Hinobaan police showed the victim was fetched from his residence by alias “Kap”, 61, the Culipapa village chief, and barangay tanod members “Gimo”, “Ron”, “Ramel” and “Lan”.

While the victim was being forced to enter barangay hall, he was hit with a piece of wood allegedly by alias “Ron” while he was mauled by other barangay tanod members, the police said.

Alias “Kap” also hit the victim twice in the abdomen while threatening to kill him, if he will not leave Barangay Culipapa, investigation further showed.

The victim, who was later released by the suspects, sought the help of his friend. When policemen arrived at the scene of incident, the suspects were nowhere to be found.

The victim was brought by the police to the Eleuterio Decena Memorial Hospital for treatment and was later released. | GB
