Students from the Hinigaran National High School won first place in the 19th Provincial Wildlife Quiz Bowl Nov. 14, as part of the 20th Provincial Wildlife Month celebration on the theme “Pagtipig sang aton Kabuganaan, Kabog kag Apitong aton Proteksyunan”.
The school, along with students from Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod, who placed second, and the third placer Vito National High School in Sagay, will represent Negros Occidental in the 8th National Wildlife Quiz in Butuan City later this month, the Provincial Environment Management Office said in a post Nov. 15.
The quiz bowl was participated in by 77 schools from Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, and tested the students’ knowledge about the local wildlife.
PEMO also thanked the Carlos Hilado Memorial State University, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the PhilBio for supporting the quiz, as well as the schools, students, professionals, and organizations. “Together, we’re taking meaningful steps toward conserving Negros Occidental’s wildlife and natural resources.” ||
