Himamaylan kid wins 4Ps exemplary search

Child beneficiary Jhonny Prudente Jr., 10, of Barangay Talaban, Himamaylan City is this year’s 4Ps Exemplary Child champion in the provincial search-Negros Occidental POO2 Cluster, and the awarding ceremony was held in Kabankalan City May 24.

Prudente brought home P5,000 in cash prize and a plaque, the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 6 said.

Er John Madamay of Brgy. Camandag, La Castellana, is first runner-up while Gabrielle Faith Gepilgon from Brgy. 1, Ilog is the second runner-up. Each of them received P2,000 cash and a plaque.

Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) regional coordinator for Administration Christian Baldonasa attended the awarding ceremony and encouraged the children to grab all the opportunities given to them as program beneficiaries by finishing their studies and getting better jobs so they could help their families improve their level of well-being, the DSWD said in a press release.

Kabankalan CSWDO Cyril Ramos, meanwhile, congratulated all the parents who have been supportive of their children throughout the event.

Meanwhile, a team from the DSWD Field Office VI conducted a community-based organization (CBO)/Sustainable Livelihood Program Association (SLPA) mapping for Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty database management system in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental, recently.

The team visited the Banqueron Agriculture Vendors Association in Brgy. Zone 3, the public market, the Cadiz Viejo Pangkabuhan Association in Brgy. Cadiz Viejo, the Barangay Magsaysay Farmers Association in Brgy. Magsaysay, the Barangay Jerusalem Farmers Association and the Jerusalem Community Association in Brgy. Jerusalem, all in Cadiz.

The CBO/SLPA mapping was facilitated for SLPAs so that they could participate in government procurement, such as the Negotiated Procurement Community Participation, and become potential suppliers for the supplementary feeding program of the DSWD.

Present during the activity were SLP implementing project development officer II Felizardo Sapanza III, EPAHP Operations and Monitoring officer Kara Kirsten Montes, capability building and general administration officer Bea Trexie Perez, and SLP LGU focal Omero Polines, among others. ||
