The city government of Himamaylan, through its flagship service MRTExpress, extended support to residents of La Castellana town affected by the phreatic eruption of Mt. Kanlaon.
Mayor Raymund Tongson joined the team from the city government June 5 to deliver 100 food packs, bottled water, face masks, and 6,000 liters of water through the city’s MRTubig water truck.
The aid from Himamaylanons was received by La Castellana Mayor Rhummyla Nicor-Mangilimutan and Councilor Añejo Nicor at the municipal hall.
The MRTubig truck headed to Barangay Sag-ang to bring clean water to residents.
“Our bayanihan spirit will endure any disaster,” Tongson said in a press release, adding that extending help to neighboring LGUs in the 5th District is a natural response of the city government and Himamaylanons.
The eruption of Mt. Kanlaon June 3 prompted the city government to take action and prepare for relief operations to affected nearby towns.
“We hope that the lives of our fellow Negrenses who live near the Kanlaon Volcano will return to normal soon,” Tongson said. ||
