High schooler found dead in La Castellana

A 16-year-old girl was found dead in an apparent suicide as reported by the police in La Castellana, Negros Occidental on Aug. 22.

Investigation showed that the body of alias “Trisha”, a Grade 11 student, was found hanging from a mango tree with a rope tied around her neck in the area of Sitio Asay, Barangay Cabacungan.

Based on the statement of her aunt, alias “Florencia,” the minor, who was temporarily residing with her family, had left the house at Saturday morning to meet friends in Barangay Masulog.

“Florencia” told the police that the victim had allegedly been dealing with depression due to underlying family issues and had previously reported an alleged attempted molestation involving her father.

Police reported that initial investigation further showed no apparent signs of foul play, physical struggle, or indication that another party was involved in the incident.

The victim’s body was turned over by the police to Nalagon Funeral Homes in Moises Padilla, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted to officially determine the exact cause and manner of death. | GPB
