High-powered guns recovered in Siaton

A cache of high-powered firearms were recovered by soldiers of the Philippine Army’s 11th Infantry Battalion in a remote area in Siaton, Negros Oriental recently.

The confiscated firearms composed of three M16 assault rifles, two M14 rifles with seven magazines containing ammunition were found in Sitio Purok, Barangay Mantiquil.

In a statement, the 3rd Infantry Division said the recovery of high-powered firearms was a product of information relayed by a civilian to the 11IB on the location of the hidden guns.

Maj. Gen. Michael Samson, 3ID commander, lauded the cooperation of the civilians, which led to the recovery of firearms, that can be used in the terroristic activities of rebel remnants in southern Negros. | GB
