Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson yesterday said that the 20 Capitol employees tested positive for illegal drugs will “suffer the consequences” of their actions.

Sixteen other Capitol employees also had faint traces of shabu use, based on the results of the two-day mandatory drug testing held last week.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II earlier said that these 36 Capitol employees will be subjected to confirmatory testing.

“As I said before, we will deal with it in accordance with the Civil Service Rules,” Lacson said.

Of the more than 3,000 Capitol employees, about 2,300 have been drug tested, including elected officials.

The assignments of those tested positive for use of shabu and marijuana were not determined yet.

A separate round of drug testing has been scheduled for those assigned at the Capitol-managed hospitals.

Those tested positive for drug use, who are job order and contract of service workers, will lose their job starting next year while regular employees will face administration sanctions, Diaz said. | GB
