The bid of Negros Occidental Board Member Richard Julius Sablan for the seat as regional head of the Liga ng mga Barangay-Western Visayas got the support of Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Negros Association of Chief Executives (ACE), Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez said Wednesday.

Sablan, who represents the Liga ng mga Barangay in the Provincial Board, was accompanied by Benitez in meeting with Lacson to solicit his endorsement.

The regional election is slated next month in Iloilo.

Benitez said he and Sablan are scheduled to meet with Aklan Governor Florencio Miraflores, members of the Provincial Board and mayors of Aklan on Jan. 18, to be followed by a meeting with Guimaras Governor JC Rahman Nava.

If he wins the regional chairmanship, Sablan will be the first Negros Occidental barangay captain to hold the position. | GB
