Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said last night, Oct. 26, that this year’s theme of SM City Bacolod’s Christmas launch, “Unwrapping Sweet Surprises”, captures what Christmas brings to our lives: simple joys, unexpected blessings, and the warmth of love shared with family and friends.

Lacson, who led the ceremonial Christmas tree lighting ceremony, together with SM Bacolod mall manager Julia Javellana, also thanked the mall management for once again bringing light and cheer to the city and the province.

“Through events like this, you help remind us that Christmas is not only a time to celebrate, but also a time to give back, to bring joy to others, and to share the blessings that we have received throughout the year,” he stressed.

“Let us also remember the greatest gift of all, the birth of our Savior, Lord Jesus Christ. His coming into the world in utmost humility and simplicity reminds us that the truest form of celebration lies in our gratitude, compassion, and faith,” the governor told mallgoers and launch attendees, including SM Bacolod marketing manager Kathryn Tiu, and mall employees and tenants.

He said the Philippines is known for having the longest and perhaps the most heartfelt Christmas celebration in the world. “By God’s grace, we are grateful to once again enter this beautiful season filled with joyful anticipation. And with this Christmas tree launch, we mark the beginning of yet another time of togetherness, hope, and generosity, the spirit that truly defines us as a people.” | CGC
