Assorted guns and explosives were seized by the police during a raid in Victorias City while two violators of the Commission on Elections gun ban were arrested on in San Enrique, all in Negros Occidental over the weekend.
On Saturday, joint operatives of Victorias City Police Station and Philippine National Police Special Action Force swooped down the residence of Ricardo Pedroso in Barangay XI.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Silay City Regional Trial Court Judge Dyna Doll Chiongson-Trocio, they found firearms and explosives, which also led to the arrest of Pedroso, 57, and his son Marvin, 27.

Recovered from the Pedroso residence were a para-ordnance .45 pistol with a magazine containing ammunition, a caliber .22 caliber revolver, an improvised 12- gauge shotgun with ammunition, assorted ammunition, an MK26 hand grenade, and a 40mm M203 high explosive.
The younger Pedroso was found possessing a caliber .38 revolver when he came out of his own residence.
Meanwhile, two laborers were apprehended yesterday by the police at Sitio Nasunugan in Barangay Batuan, San Enrique.
Gonzales brothers Ronie, 32, and Aljun, 33, both from Sitio Pasil, Barangay Tabao Baybay, were arrested for violation of the gun ban.
They yielded a caliber .45 Colt pistol with two magazines containing 15 ammunition, a caliber 357 Smith and Wesson revolver with 25 ammunition, and a handheld radio set.
Their arrest took place after a concerned resident informed the police on the presence of two armed men roaming in the area.
Meanwhile, 34 liquor ban violators were also arrested during a joint operation of the police and Philippine Army soldiers in Bacolod City on May 11. | GB
