Guns, explosive seized in police operations

Two suspects were arrested while two unlicensed firearms and a fragmentation grenade were recovered in separate police raids in Negros Island Region on Jan. 26 and 27.

The operation on Monday at Purok Langka in Barangay Libas, Isabela, Negros Occidental led to the apprehension of alias “Jer”, a 29-year-old laborer.

His arrest, which followed the service of a search warrant, yielded a homemade caliber 9mm pistol with a magazine containing three ammunition.

It was followed by another raid in Barangay Abis, Mabinay, Negros Oriental conducted by the local police, 2nd Provincial Mobile Group, and the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office.

The suspect, alias “Berto”, 47, was also linked to the New People’s Army extortion and armed intimidation activities.

The police seized from his possession a caliber .45 pistol with a magazine containing five ammunition, three improvised guns, and a hand grenade. | GB
