A suspected gunrunner is now locked up in jail, following his arrest in Barangay Binicuil, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental for illegal possession of firearms on Feb. 18.
Alias “Nonoy” yielded four unlicensed firearms, including two caliber 357 revolvers and two caliber .38 revolvers, during the entrapment operation conducted by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bacolod City Field Unit.
The arrested suspect engaged in selling of firearms in Kabankalan City and the neighboring municipalities in Negros Occidental, according to the CIDG report.
Meanwhile, more suspected smuggled cigarettes were recovered by the police in the cities of San Carlos and Victorias in Negros Occidental on Feb. 19.
An estimated P316,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes were surrendered by a market stall owner to the police in Barangay V, San Carlos City.
The police also recovered boxes of abandoned smuggled cigarettes and a motorcycle at Crossing San Ramon and Palanca streets in Victorias City. | GB
